Introduction to Advanced Fire/Arson Scene Investigations
 

Tuition: $100, 15 student limit.

8 hours - This course is eligible for TCOLE credit hours.

 

Topics that will be covered during this course are: Fire Investigation, Fire Scene Examination, Documenting the Scene, Evidence Collection and preservation, Post Incident Investigation and Case Management, Interviews, NFPA 1033: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator and NFPA 921: Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations.

 

This 8-hour tested training class will look at the fire scene as a "crime scene" and will expose the students to current crime scene practices, along with current standards and guidelines as outlined by NFPA 1033/921. Methods of instruction will include lecture, case studies, and mock fire scenes where students will gain hands-on training.

Important Information:

Registration ends 5 p.m. on the date specified.

 

You will be required to attend in person at the specified academy location at 8 am. In most cases, the testing location will be at Station 13, 3300 Hilliard Road, San Marcos, Texas. Please plan for at least eight hours.

 

Failing the course, final exam, or not attending the final exam/skills day will result in you having to pay the full tuition to attend the next available course. We no longer allow students to sit in on the next course or roll over to the next skills day as it had been allowed before. You must complete all coursework and skills associated to the course that you originally register for. If you are unable to attend any portion of the original course, you must contact Texas Fire Academy admissions to change the course.
