Texas Fire Academy offers the Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course in three different formats, a standard classroom setting, a hybrid setting both online and in classroom, and a San Marcos High School class open to senior level students. |
Standard Classroom Setting |
EMT-Basic Tuition: $1900.00 Deposit: $600.00
This course is an in-person lecture class four and a half months (18 weeks) in length. See the Regular EMT Sample Schedule in the Downloads area for more information.
The traditional, evening class meets twice each week on Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday for 4 hours with one Saturday class of 8 hours duration. All homework and quizzes are done online through our E-Learning system. Each of the 40 units covered in the course will have homework and quizzes. Each module with have an exam, which are face to face in the classroom. A 70% average is required to attend clinical opportunities. The final exam is considered Pass/Fail. |
Hybrid Online & Classroom Setting |
EMT-Basic Hybrid Tuition: $1900.00 Deposit: $600.00
This course is a hybrid online and in-person lecture class meeting on Saturday and Sunday. It is four months (16 weeks) in length with a minimum of 140 hours. See the Hybrid EMT Sample Schedule in the Downloads area for more information.
The hybrid EMT class is conducted using the Jones & Bartlett Learning Management System. Students are required to attend all class meetings held on weekends throughout the term during which written examinations, skills training, and skills testing take place. A 70% average is required to attend clinical opportunities. The final exam is considered Pass/Fail.

To reserve a spot in the class: Submit the required deposit, a completed and signed Course Application, and the signed Refund Policy. The outstanding documents and remaining tuition must be submitted no later than the last day of registration.
To reserve a spot on the waiting list: Submit the required deposit, a completed and signed Course Application, signed Refund Policy, and signed Waiting List Policy. The outstanding documents and remaining tuition must be submitted no later than the last day of registration.
Important Information: Registration ends 3 p.m. on the last day of registration for each class. Incomplete registration requirements, documents and/or unpaid balance on tuition may result in the loss of the class seat to someone on a waiting list.

Texas Fire Academy in partnership with the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District offers a two semester Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course open to senior level students at San Marcos High School. Tuition is free for SMCISD students with textbooks and uniform shirts provided. Contact us for more information.
