Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
  
 
 

Texas Fire Academy offers the Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course in three different formats, a standard classroom setting, a hybrid setting both online and in classroom, and a San Marcos High School class open to senior level students.

 
Standard Classroom Setting

This course is an in-person lecture class four and a half months (18 weeks) in length with a minimum of 208 hours. See the Sample Schedule in the Downloads area for more information.

  • Classroom - 140 hours
  • Field Rotation - 60 hours (minimum)
  • Clinical Internship - 8 hours

 

It is held in the evenings, Tuesday and Thursday, 6pm-10pm. All  homework and quizzes are done online through our E-Learning system. Each of the 40 units covered in the course will have homework and quizzes. Each module with have an exam, which are face to face in the classroom. A 75% average is required to attend clinical opportunities. The final exam is considered Pass/Fail.

 

 
Hybrid Online & Classroom Setting

This course is a hybrid online and in-person lecture class. It is four months (16 weeks) in length with a minimum of 140 hours. See the Syllabus and Sample Schedule for more information.

  • Classroom - 72 hours
  • Field Rotation - 60 hours (minimum)
  • Clinical Internship - 8 hours

 

All  didactic learning, homework and quizzes are done online through our E-Learning system. Each of the 40 units covered in the course will have homework and quizzes. EMT-Basic Tuition: $1800.00

This includes:

  • Textbooks
  • Uniform shirts

 

 

To reserve a spot in the class:

Submit a deposit of $450.00, a completed and signed Course Application, and the signed Refund Policy. The outstanding documents and remaining tuition must be submitted no later than the last day of registration. 

 

Important Information:

Registration ends 3 p.m. on the last day of registration for each class. Incomplete registration requirements, documents and/or unpaid balance on tuition may result in the loss of the class seat to someone on a waiting list. All cadets are required to appear in person during the last week of registration at 3528 Hunter Road, San Marcos, Texas. Office hours are normally M-F from 9am – 3pm except on holidays.

 

 

San Marcos High School EMT-Basic Program
Texas Fire Academy in partnership with the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District offers a two semester Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course open to senior level students at San Marcos High School. Tuition is free for SMCISD students with textbooks and uniform shirts provided. Contact us for more information.
